I need to surrender my pit bull!

"Owner Foster" Program

The concept of the Owner Foster Program is to keep your dog OUT of the shelter, in his/her own home, while up for adoption. This keeps our extremely limited foster homes available for emergencies, makes the transition for your dog less stressful, and allows your dog to be placed into a prescreened, approved new home. Keep in mind that unless you are an experienced rescuer, we're going to do a much better job at screening potential pit bull adopters than you will.

At the current time, we do not have any available foster or kennel space. The only way we can help you rehome your dog to a qualified adopter is if you can "Owner Foster" the dog while he/she is up for adoption. If you can do this and would like for us to consider your dog for our adoption program, please read the information below and then complete the Owner Surrender Form. We cannot guarantee acceptance into our adoption program, but we will try to help you as much as possible. We receive dozens of calls and e-mails every week from people wanting us to take their pit bull. Please be patient when waiting for a reply; we will get to it as quickly as we can.

Owner Surrender Instructions

In order for us to consider placing your dog for adoption, you must complete the Owner Surrender Form in its entirety. Be sure to read and comply with all instructions and be prepared to submit a digital photo to us via e-mail. The dog must be spayed/neutered and up to date on vaccinations (records required) - visit the Nevada SPCA or Petco for lost cost vaccination clinics and spay and neuter information. The dog will be evaulated for any temperment inssues. Dogs which exibit any human aggression will not be accepted into our program. In addition, not all pit mixes will be accepted. If the dog is accepted, you will be agreeing to hod the dog until adopted into a new loving home. This could take anywhere from a few days to a few months, depending on the age of the dog, if it is a mix or a purebred, and various other factors.

During the adoption process, we will want to bring the dog to meet potential adopters and perhaps to adoption events. Once an adoption is approved, you will sign a Surrender Contract with Bullie Buddies of Las Vegas, and we will then take ownership of the dog and complete the adoption wtih the new owner. When we take ownership of the dog, it is agreed upon by the new owner that should the dog need to be returned for any reason, it will be to Bullie Buddies of Las Vegas. We treat the adoption of an owner fostered dog the same as all of our adoptions.
